Phoenix Contact is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial electrical technology. The company develops innovative products for automation, connection technology, and digitization. With over 20,000 employees and products offered in more than 100 countries, the demand for well-organized digital assets is constantly growing. The most important of these assets are technical documents, data sheets, safety information, and marketing materials, all of which are available in multiple languages.
Phoenix Contact used a DAM system to manage and deliver data before implementing 4ALLPORTAL. However, the system could not display relationships. There were many documents with up to 28 language variants, as well as different versions for print, online, and e-paper. The necessary relationships between these documents were lacking. Consequently, it was often difficult for content managers to determine which languages and data were available.
Hundreds of files were uploaded each year, requiring clarity and classification. Language versions were not linked to each other. Complex keyword indexing was used in an attempt to create links and thus improve searchability. Different versions could not be identified at a glance. Content and languages could not be found, and national and international communication efforts were very high. Efforts increased and motivation declined. Finally, a new system was sought that would meet the requirements as a DAM and data hub.
For us, it was crucial to have a fully automated upload via the API, as well as clear relationships between the original documents and their translations. 4ALLPORTAL has noticeably streamlined and improved the efficiency of our global document processes.

The prerequisites were the ability to upload documents fully automatically via API and the intelligent assignment of all file variants and their respective language versions. The decisive advantage is this: The DAM displays the associated variants and establishes consistent relationships between the original documents and all translations. Content teams can quickly see which files are available and if the language variants are up to date.
